Mumbai, Oct 31 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that Maharashtra is making substantial progress towards enhancing the ease of doing business (EoDB), streamlining procedures, and simplifying sector-specific approvals to foster a more transparent and investor-friendly climate.
He emphasized that the state government is implementing significant reforms to establish Maharashtra as a prime destination for industries. "As per the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Maharashtra has been among the top-performing states nationally since 2015," he stated while assessing various governmental initiatives tied to EoDB.
Under the Ease of Doing Business framework, core focus areas include land and construction permits, labor reforms, utility and inspection systems, along with regulatory simplifications. The state aims to introduce a single-window clearance system via the upgraded Maharashtra Industry, Trade and Facilitation platform -- MAITRI 2.0.
A government release indicated that MAITRI 2.0 will feature several integrated modules such as single sign-on, permit status tracking, a common application form, consolidated payment systems, dashboards, inspections, grievance redressal, and user feedback mechanisms to streamline business processes.
“In the meeting, the progress of the state’s Ease of Doing Business programme, ongoing reforms, and forthcoming initiatives were reviewed. Maharashtra has accomplished 399 out of 402 reforms under the ‘Ease of Doing Business 2024’ programme, achieving an implementation score of 99.25 percent,” the statement noted.
The release mentioned that Maharashtra was previously recognized as an Achiever in the Ease of Doing Business 2020–21 cycle and as a Top Achiever in 2022. The final results for the Ease of Doing Business 2024 assessment will be announced on November 11, 2025.
Fadnavis mentioned that the state government will empower district collectors with more authority to ensure effective execution of the District Business Reform Action Plan 2025, which encompasses 154 reforms and will continue until August 14, 2026.
He added that six divisional committees have been established to expedite industrial development in Maharashtra, which will present their reports by December 31, 2025. Among them, the Ease of Doing Business Improvement Committee is chaired by Nashik Division Commissioner Dr. Praveen Gedam, while Vijay Suryavanshi (Konkan Division) and Jitendra Papalkar (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Division) focus on industrial resource utilization and land bank promotion, respectively.
