New Delhi, April 6 (NationPress) The Delhi Legislative Assembly celebrated a spiritual and cultural gathering named “Bhagwan Mahavir Gatha” to honor the significant milestone of the 2,624th birth anniversary and the 2,550th Nirvan Mahotsav of Lord Mahavir.
During the event, Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized that the life and teachings of Lord Mahavir remain a guiding light for humanity.
In his speech, Gupta remarked that gatherings like “Mahavir Gatha” are vital for transmitting our cultural and spiritual legacy to younger generations.
He stated, “The message of Lord Mahavir is not merely religious; it is the cornerstone of human and social growth. Embracing his principles can lead us towards a more peaceful and harmonious society.”
Gupta also shared intentions to organize additional public events within the Assembly grounds.
He was awarded the 'Karmyogi Samman', receiving a ceremonial tilak, a garland, and a commendation plaque. A representative from the Jain Society commended Gupta, saying: “He promotes the values of harmony, justice, and non-violence; his commitment to serving the nation is commendable.”
During this event, Vijender Gupta also designated Muni Maharaj as a state guest.
The grand celebration was organized by the Bhagwan Mahavir Nirvana Mahotsav Samiti and Sakal Jain Samaj Delhi.
A special Vatsalya Bhoj (community meal) was also provided following the event.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, and members of the Jain community were present at this spiritual and cultural gathering, as per a statement.
On April 3, the Speaker announced initiatives to reduce the Assembly's carbon footprint by transitioning to 100 percent solar energy.
He set a goal of 100 days to increase the Assembly's solar power generation capacity from 200 KW to 600 KW.
