New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the nation during the celebration of Mahavir Jayanti, asserting that Bhagwan Mahavir's ideals provide strength to countless individuals globally.

Marking the birth of Lord Mahavira, the 24th and last Tīrthankara of Jainism, PM Modi noted how his teachings have been meticulously preserved and promoted by the Jain community.

In a message posted on his X handle, PM Modi expressed, "We all pay our respects to Bhagwan Mahavir, who consistently advocated for non-violence, truth, and compassion. His ideals empower countless individuals worldwide. His teachings have been beautifully preserved and popularised by the Jain community. Motivated by Bhagwan Mahavir, they have excelled across various fields and contributed significantly to societal welfare."

PM Modi emphasized his administration’s commitment to heritage preservation. He remarked, "Our Government will always strive to realize the vision of Bhagwan Mahavir. Last year, we granted Classical Language status to Prakrit, a move that garnered widespread acclaim."

This year marks the 2623rd birth anniversary of the esteemed spiritual leader, which is celebrated with great devotion and splendor throughout India. Mahavir Jayanti, one of the most important religious festivals in Jainism, is observed on the 13th day of the waxing moon in the Chaitra month, according to the Jain calendar. Religious texts state that Mahavira was born in 599 B.C. in Kundalagrama, near present-day Patna, Bihar.

On Wednesday, PM Modi joined the Navkar Mahamantra Divas at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, chanting the ‘Navkar Mahamantra‘ with participants from over 108 countries.

He indicated that it is more than just a mantra; it is the core of faith. He further added that the Mahamantra serves as the key to life, with its significance extending beyond the spiritual realm. It guides everyone, from the individual to society, presenting a journey from within to the world.

The Prime Minister also outlined nine resolutions that individuals should adopt during the Navkar Mahamantra Divas.

In a meaningful act of humility and respect, PM Modi attended the Navkar Mahamantra event on Wednesday without footwear and chose to sit among the attendees rather than on the dais.
