Addressing the press in Sundernagar, the Chief Minister stated that the government acted promptly to restore vital services in the impacted regions. He noted that nearly all significant roads have been reopened, with efforts to clear link roads progressing rapidly. Fifty JCB machines were mobilized immediately following the disaster to expedite road restoration.
He mentioned that the roadway extending to Chail Chowk, Bagsyad, Thunag, Janjehli, and Chhatri would be incorporated under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) to enhance it into a composite road. The road and bridges from Thunag to Janjehli have endured significant damage, currently undergoing temporary restoration, with ample funding ensured for further repairs. Thus far, the government has allocated Rs 7 crore for relief and rescue efforts to expedite restoration.
Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister and the PWD Minister have already visited the affected regions to evaluate the damage. Sukhu intends to request the Central government's permission to allocate forest land to safely relocate affected individuals, urging state BJP MPs to support this initiative.
In the coming days, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani will visit the disaster-stricken regions to oversee relief and rescue operations. Sukhu mentioned that families residing in rented accommodations will receive Rs 5,000 monthly in rural areas and Rs 10,000 in urban locations.
