Kolkata, March 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, emphasized the need for "holy harmony" among the populace as Dol Yatra and Holi approach.
In a post on her social media, she shared lines from a song about the Dol Yatra festival, written by the esteemed Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The Nobel Prize-winning poet expressed how the festival of colors fosters a sense of unity and togetherness among individuals.
"I extend my warm wishes and congratulations to everyone celebrating the auspicious Dol Yatra. May this Holi of tranquility and the swing usher in divine harmony for all humanity," the Chief Minister remarked in her online message.
This year, the Dol Yatra festival coincides with Gaur Purnima and marks the birth anniversary of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
In another message, she urged the residents of West Bengal to draw lessons of "unity" from the life of the revered Indian spiritual philosopher and leader.
"The teachings of Sri Chaitanya Dev and his commitment to humanity have served as guiding principles for over five centuries. His profound love for mankind united people from all walks of life—rich and poor, educated and uneducated—irrespective of caste, creed, or faith. By weaving them together in love, he illuminated the path to equality and togetherness, leading to the renaissance of Bengal. Therefore, for me, Mahaprabhu's ideology represents the essence of humanity," the Chief Minister stated.
She also encouraged everyone to pledge on this significant day that they would safeguard the secular and tolerant traditions of Sri Chaitanya Dev's Bengali heritage.
In her post, she highlighted the initiatives taken by her administration in Nadia district, the birthplace of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in honoring the significant spiritual figure.
"Our government is transforming Navadwip, Mahaprabhu's birthplace, into a 'Heritage Town'. The state has allocated 700 acres of land for establishing a holy pilgrimage city for ISKCON in nearby Mayapur," the Chief Minister asserted.
The opposition leader in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, also shared his wishes for the Dol Yatra and Holi celebrations.
"Wishing everyone a delightful Dol Purnima, spring festival, and heartfelt greetings for Holi," Adhikari expressed in his concise social media message.
