Mandla (Madhya Pradesh), April 4 (NationPress) - In a devastating late-night traffic incident on the Mandla-Raipur segment of National Highway 30, three young men tragically lost their lives, while a fourth individual suffered severe injuries due to a violent head-on motorcycle crash near Chartola, within the Gadhi police station jurisdiction of Bichhia tehsil in Mandla district, according to officials on Saturday.

Initial police investigations indicate that both motorcycles were likely traveling at high speeds when they collided with great intensity in the darkness. The collision was so catastrophic that all three riders were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as locals of the Gadhi (Bichhiya) police station area. Two victims were from Jamun Tola village under the Karanjia Mal Panchayat, while the third hailed from Karanjia Mal.

One of the deceased was 36-year-old Jagdish Yadav, a power lineman, who was on his way home from work during the time of the incident.

Local residents and police arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. A police team from Bichhiya promptly secured the area and commenced an on-site investigation.

The critically injured young man was transported to Bichhiya Hospital for immediate medical attention, where he remains in serious condition.

According to investigation officer Monesh Mogre (30), victims Sankit Das (30) and Ram Prakash (26) were residents of Karanjia Mal heading towards Mandla, while Jagdish was approaching from the opposite direction. They collided head-on near a toll plaza, resulting in instant fatalities for all but Ram Prakash Uike.

Preliminary police inquiries have suggested that excessive speed may have been the primary factor leading to this tragic accident. Nevertheless, authorities have not dismissed other possible contributing factors such as low visibility at night, mechanical issues, or overtaking mistakes.

Ongoing investigations are set to explore the specific causes, which will include vehicle inspections and witness statements.

The police have officially registered a case and are urging motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly when riding during nighttime hours. They have strongly recommended that riders avoid excessive speed and utilize helmets and reflective gear properly.
