The northeastern state proudly joined the nation in marking the 77th Republic Day, with the Governor hoisting the National Flag and saluting various march-past contingents at the historic Kangla Fort.
Subsequently, the Governor raised the Tricolour while the National Anthem played and took the salute from 67 march-past contingents, including band units and mounted police, led by Commandant N. Madhunimai Singh of the 8th Manipur Rifles.
Fourteen cultural troupes and tableaus representing different government departments also participated in the parade.
During the vote of thanks at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel stated that the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights that safeguard the dignity and freedom of every citizen.
He explained that citizenship comes with both privileges and responsibilities, which include respecting the rule of law, preserving national unity, fostering harmony, protecting public property, and contributing to the nation’s advancement while adhering to fundamental duties.
