Imphal, Jan 26 (NationPress) The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, emphasized on Monday that the state’s rich cultural legacy, its spirit of unity in diversity, and its unwavering spirit have always significantly contributed to the nation’s strength.

In his message for Republic Day, the Governor remarked that the courage, resilience, and talents of the people of Manipur, especially in the realms of sports, arts, culture, and public service, continue to motivate the entire nation.

He highlighted that Republic Day commemorates a pivotal moment when the Constitution of India was enacted on January 26, 1950, marking the nation’s establishment as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.

This day serves as a reminder to reaffirm our steadfast faith in the constitutional principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, which are the bedrock of our nation.

“As we honor Republic Day, let us unite in our resolve to uphold the ideals embedded in our Constitution, promote peace and harmony, and commit to inclusive development and social justice,” the Governor urged.

He stressed that the occasion should revitalize our collective dedication to nation-building, ensuring progress, dignity, and equal opportunities for all citizens.

The northeastern state proudly joined the nation in marking the 77th Republic Day, with the Governor hoisting the National Flag and saluting various march-past contingents at the historic Kangla Fort.

Subsequently, the Governor raised the Tricolour while the National Anthem played and took the salute from 67 march-past contingents, including band units and mounted police, led by Commandant N. Madhunimai Singh of the 8th Manipur Rifles.

Fourteen cultural troupes and tableaus representing different government departments also participated in the parade.

During the vote of thanks at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel stated that the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights that safeguard the dignity and freedom of every citizen.

He explained that citizenship comes with both privileges and responsibilities, which include respecting the rule of law, preserving national unity, fostering harmony, protecting public property, and contributing to the nation’s advancement while adhering to fundamental duties.

This balance of rights and responsibilities remains a source of pride for all Indians, he noted.

The Chief Secretary expressed appreciation to the people of Manipur for their cooperation, resilience, and trust in democratic institutions, which he stated are the true foundation of the Republic.

Goel urged the populace to renew their commitment to the ideals of the Constitution, strengthen peace and harmony, pursue inclusive and sustainable development, and collaborate for a prosperous, united, and resilient Manipur within a robust and vibrant India.

Notable attendees at the celebrations included the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, MLAs, the Security Advisor, the Director General of Police, and senior civil and police officials.
