Imphal, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, expressed on Tuesday that the unified efforts of governmental bodies, security forces, civic organizations, and community members are pivotal in guiding the state towards peace, stability, and sustainable development.

During his address at the seminar themed ‘Resurgent Manipur: Framework for Stability and Sustained Growth’, Bhalla emphasized the resilience of Manipur and its vibrant cultural heritage. He also pointed out the state’s significant geographical position.

Having served as the Union Home Secretary, he highlighted the necessity of reconciliation, social cohesion, robust governance, improved border management, the fight against organized crime, and enhanced collaboration among various societal factions.

The Governor further accentuated Manipur’s vast potential in sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, handloom, handicrafts, eco-tourism, and sports, stressing the entrepreneurial spirit of the local populace and the outstanding accomplishments of Manipuri athletes on an international level.

The event comprised three plenary discussions, commencing with the initial session titled ‘Manipur at Crossroads’. This session was led by Lt Gen C.A. Krishnan (Retd), who provided a comprehensive overview titled ‘Complexities of Manipur – A Brief Overview’, detailing the evolving security dynamics, governance hurdles, and the repercussions of regional geopolitical changes.

Anthropologist and Senior Fellow at the India Foundation, Rami N. Desai, delivered an in-depth presentation on ‘External Dynamics as a Catalyst for Internal Turmoil in Manipur’, scrutinizing cross-border influences, demographic challenges, illegal immigration, narcotics networks, and the wider geopolitical factors that are influencing the internal stability of the state.

The event was attended by notable figures including Manipur government’s Security Advisor, Kuldiep Singh, Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), Maj.
