Imphal, April 30 (NationPress) Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla convened a crucial high-level security meeting on Wednesday to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the state, according to an official source.
A senior official from the Home Department indicated that the meeting extensively covered the latest law and order scenarios in both the valley and hill regions, examining recent developments in each area. This meeting took place at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Governor Bhalla, who previously served as the Union Home Secretary, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among all security forces to restore peace and normalcy.
Attendees included Manipur's security advisor Kuldiep Singh, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 57 Mountain Division Major Gen. S.S. Kartikeya, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, ADGP (Law and Order) Lupheng Kailun, Joint Director from the Intelligence Bureau Navdeep Singh Grewal, along with officials from the CRPF and BSF.
Also participating via video conference were GOC 3 Corps Lt. Gen. Abhijit S. Pendharkar, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh, and Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) Maj. Gen. Suresh Kumar Bhambhu.
In addition to top security officials, Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh and Commissioner (Home) N. Ashok Kumar also joined the meeting virtually.
The official revealed that the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and Manipur Police are consistently conducting search and anti-insurgency operations across valley and hilly districts, leading to the recovery of numerous sophisticated arms, IEDs, grenades, various ammunition types, and war-like materials.
In light of the situation, Manipur Police has appealed to the community to refrain from believing in rumors and to stay vigilant against fake videos. They stated, "Any dissemination of unverified videos should be confirmed through the central control room’s number. Additionally, numerous false posts are circulating on social media, and those who upload such content will face legal repercussions."
The police continue to implore the public to return any looted arms, ammunition, and explosives immediately to law enforcement or the nearest security forces. Amid ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, reports of vehicle theft have surfaced, with 122 stolen cars and 20 two-wheelers recovered since April 16 from various locations throughout the state.
A police official noted that the Manipur Police initiated a special drive on April 16 aimed at recovering stolen or snatched vehicles from anti-social elements and aggressors.
