A representative from Raj Bhavan disclosed that Aggarwal provided a comprehensive overview to the Governor concerning the broader security dynamics along the border, the operational readiness of the BSF in that area, and the persistent initiatives aimed at ensuring tranquility. Accompanying him was Inspector General of BSF for the Mizoram and Cachar frontier, Ravi Kant.
“They underscored the ongoing collaboration with state agencies and reaffirmed the BSF's dedication to preserving peace and security,” stated the official.
In addition to the BSF, a substantial contingent comprising the Army, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been deployed alongside Manipur Police to tackle ethnic tensions in the northeastern region since May 2023.
In recent developments, security forces in Manipur apprehended four members of various militant factions over the past 24 hours and seized arms and ammunition in the districts of Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Churachandpur.
The detained militants were associated with the banned groups, namely the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
Security forces are actively engaging in search operations and area control in both the vulnerable regions across the Imphal valley and the hilly sectors.
The Manipur Police have once more urged residents to refrain from disseminating rumors and fake videos, advising vigilance against misleading content. The authenticity of any multimedia materials can be verified through the Central Control Room, as stated by the police.
The authorities cautioned that sharing and distributing such misleading posts on social media could result in legal repercussions. Additionally, a request was made for the public to return any looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the police or nearby security forces without delay,” the statement concluded.
