Imphal, April 25 (NationPress) The chief of the Border Security Force’s (BSF) Eastern Command and Additional Director General (ADG), Ravi Gandhi, arrived in Manipur to conduct an extensive evaluation of the security landscape and the force’s operational readiness, officials reported on Friday.
A spokesperson for the BSF indicated that ADG Gandhi, during his two-day visit, reached Imphal on Thursday and convened a meeting with Kuldiep Singh, the Security Advisor to the Manipur government, alongside Inspector General Indra Deo Singh.
Following this, the chief of the BSF Eastern Command led an in-depth operational review session with senior officials at the sector Headquarters located in Koirengei.
Accompanied by other officers, ADG Gandhi toured various BSF installations in the Senapati and Kangpokpi districts, engaging with commanders and troops stationed throughout these hilly areas.
The ADG praised their steadfast commitment and professionalism in ensuring law and order in Manipur, urging them to sustain their efforts with utmost dedication and enthusiasm.
Additionally, the head of the BSF Eastern Command conducted separate discussions with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh at the civil secretariat, and Director General of Police Rajiv Singh at the Police Headquarters, where they deliberated on the security conditions, the responsibilities of BSF personnel, and the operational readiness of the paramilitary forces.
ADG Gandhi has visited the violence-affected regions of Manipur multiple times, where, alongside the BSF, a substantial contingent of the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, and ITBP has been addressing the law and order issues in collaboration with the Manipur police.
The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), together with the Army, Assam Rifles, and the Manipur police, is actively engaged in search operations, area patrolling, and the recovery of illegally held weapons and ammunition across various districts, both in the valleys and mountainous regions.
On average, security forces apprehend six to eight militants daily, who are implicated in kidnapping, extortion from contractors, government employees, traders, and even ordinary citizens across different districts.
