Imphal, Feb 19 (NationPress) The Director General of the CRPF, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, convened with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, providing an extensive overview of the deployment and operational activities of the para-military force in the area, as reported by officials.
A representative from Raj Bhavan indicated that Singh, who previously served as the Director General of Assam Police before assuming the DG position of CRPF on January 30, assured the Governor of the force’s readiness to manage any potential situation.
Discussions between the CRPF DG and Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary, revolved around the CRPF’s role in enhancing security and its collaboration with Manipur police to foster enduring peace in the state.
The CRPF chief also led a strategic review meeting in the Imphal West district with senior officials.
“The discussions were aimed at evaluating the ground situation and optimizing the force’s strategy for maintaining peace in the vicinity,” he remarked.
Following the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur on May 3, 2023, thousands of personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), including CRPF, Army, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Force (BSF), have been stationed in the conflict-affected state.
Additionally, a delegation from the National People’s Party (NPP), headed by Y. Joykumar Singh, the Manipur state President, met with the Governor on Wednesday evening to discuss the current situation in the state.
Furthermore, S. Radhakrishnan, Chief General Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI), Guwahati Circle, along with other officials, also consulted with the Governor, briefing him on the various initiatives taken by the bank to serve even the most remote areas of the state.
The High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2025, administered by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), commenced on Wednesday.
According to board officials, a total of 39,052 students, including 535 students displaced by ethnic violence, are participating in the examination across 155 centers, with 62 in the hill districts and 93 in the valley districts.
Officials noted that 8,468 students hailed from 306 government schools, while 27,374 students were from 583 private schools, and the remaining 1,210 students were from 60 government-aided schools throughout the state.
