Kolkata, April 14 (NationPress) Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General of the Eastern Command of the Border Security Force (BSF), visited the Murshidabad district in West Bengal on Monday to meet with victims of the recent violence. He was joined by Karni Singh Shekhawat, IG of the BSF South Bengal Frontier, along with other senior officers from the Force.

The ADG assessed the violence-affected areas of Suti and Samserganj, engaging with victims and local residents, and assuring them of their safety. He conveyed his empathy and confirmed that measures would be taken to restore complete order soon, emphasizing that the BSF is entirely devoted to their protection. Their needs would be met in every possible way, he remarked,” stated the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier BSF.

Gandhi also had discussions with Rajeev Kumar, DGP of West Bengal, who was present in Murshidabad, and explored the current situation, promising full support from the BSF in efforts to quell the violence and reinstate peace. The ADG engaged with other senior officials from both administrative and police sectors during the visit to enhance collaboration.

The ADG praised the BSF jawans stationed in the areas affected by violence for their dedication and their role in stabilizing the situation. He acknowledged their significant contributions in managing the unrest and uplifted their spirits. Furthermore, he assessed security measures in the border regions of both Murshidabad and Malda, issuing essential directives for heightened vigilance and alertness,” the spokesperson added.

Following the unrest in Murshidabad and parts of Malda, Gandhi instructed officers to exercise utmost caution and vigilance along the International Border (IB) with Bangladesh in these districts, noting that much of the border is riverine and unfenced.

The ADG took the incidents very seriously, sending a clear message that the BSF would extend all possible assistance to the civil administration and police to swiftly restore peace. He reiterated that the safety of citizens is the highest priority and any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated. By visiting the border areas of both districts adjacent to Bangladesh, he ensured complete vigilance against any malicious attempts to exploit the current state of affairs,” the spokesperson concluded.
