Kolkata, April 19 (NationPress) West Bengal Governor C.V Ananda Bose announced on Saturday that he plans to address the recent communal violence in Murshidabad with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and also report his observations regarding the local circumstances to the Central government.
"From my interactions with those affected, it is clear that they have faced atrocious attacks. Such violence cannot be tolerated in a civilized society and contradicts the essence of Indian democracy. I have understood the concerns of the people, and I will ensure their voices reach the appropriate authorities," the Governor stated to the press as he returned to Kolkata after visiting the impacted areas in the Murshidabad district.
He further mentioned that he would discuss the situation with the Chief Minister and emphasized that both the Union and state governments are responsible for safeguarding the citizens.
“I am optimistic that the prevailing atmosphere of tension and fear will dissipate soon. As Governor, I will take necessary actions,” Bose remarked.
He also noted the requests from the residents of Murshidabad for the establishment of permanent Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) camps in the distressed regions of the district.
"The local populace has specific requests. They are advocating for permanent CAPF camps. I will communicate these demands to the relevant authorities. The residents seek justice, and I stand with them,” declared the West Bengal Governor.
While addressing the situation, he acknowledged that conditions in the troubled areas of Murshidabad have significantly improved following the deployment of CAPF.
“Nonetheless, there are still some concerns. Challenges remain, and these issues must be addressed,” the Governor concluded.
