Kolkata, April 13 (NationPress) The Governor of West Bengal, C. V. Ananda Bose, has transmitted a communique to the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the escalating situation in Murshidabad, which has experienced heightened tensions in recent days due to protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
In the communique, the Governor detailed the recent events in Murshidabad and the emergence of unrest in certain areas of the district, as reported by sources from Raj Bhavan.
According to these sources, the communique was informed by insights gathered by the Governor's dedicated core team and information relayed from the state secretariat.
Furthermore, it is understood that the communique includes confidential exchanges between the Governor and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee concerning the ongoing situation.
In response, the state government has decided to assign 23 police officers with specialized skills in managing law and order to Murshidabad, drawn from various districts of West Bengal.
This team will remain in Murshidabad until normalcy is restored.
Rajeev Kumar, the Director General of Police, has already arrived in Murshidabad to coordinate efforts with the district administration and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel regarding the current circumstances.
K. S. Shekhawat, the Inspector General (South Bengal Frontier) of the Border Security Force, also arrived in Murshidabad on Sunday.
