Imphal, Aug 3 (NationPress) - The Additional Director General (ADG) of the BSF, Eastern Command, Kolkata, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, during his three-day visit to Manipur, urged the troops to execute their duties with utmost dedication and professionalism to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the state, as confirmed by an official on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the BSF revealed that Aggarwal, an IPS officer, interacted with various officers and personnel, emphasizing the importance of their roles in preserving peace in Manipur.
During his stay, the BSF ADG conducted a comprehensive review of the current security landscape in the state and assessed the operational readiness of the troops stationed in this violence-prone northeastern region.
Accompanied by the Inspector General of BSF, Mizoram and Cachar frontier, Ravi Kant, and other senior officers, Aggarwal visited the districts of Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Churachandpur, engaging with commanders and troops deployed there.
The ADG also organized a Sainik Sammelan in Churachandpur, addressing the officers and troops present.
Additionally, Aggarwal met with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Friday, where they discussed the security dynamics in the state and the forces’ ongoing efforts to uphold peace and stability.
An official from Raj Bhavan stated that Aggarwal briefed the Governor on the overall security conditions along the border, the operational readiness of the BSF in the region, and the continuous initiatives to maintain harmonious living.
Moreover, the BSF ADG was accompanied by Ravi Kant, who noted the effective coordination with state agencies and reaffirmed the BSF’s commitment to ensuring peace and security.
Separate discussions were also held with Kuldiep Singh, Security Advisor to the Manipur government, and Rajiv Singh, Director General of Police for Manipur.
In response to the ethnic conflicts that have plagued the northeastern states since May 2023, a substantial presence of the Army, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), along with the Manipur Police, has been deployed in the region.
