Imphal, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, emphasized the significant role that the forces have played in protecting sovereignty, fostering peace and harmony, and ensuring the safety of the state's citizens. During the annual investiture ceremony for the ‘Governor’s Unit Citation 2025’ at Raj Bhavan, he highlighted that the valor, professionalism, and dedication of the security forces have garnered them the admiration and respect of the community.

The Governor commended the efforts of the courageous men and women in uniform for their role in protecting security, sustaining peace, and guaranteeing the safety of the populace.

He remarked that the ceremony is a tribute to the steadfast commitment, bravery, and exemplary service exhibited by the forces in their duties to both the nation and the people of Manipur.

"We acknowledge and celebrate those units that have shown remarkable bravery, altruistic service, and unwavering determination in challenging situations. Whether engaged in counter-insurgency, humanitarian missions, disaster management, or ensuring internal security, these units have exemplified exceptional dedication and commitment to their responsibilities," stated Bhalla, a former Union Home Secretary.

"As we award the Governor's Unit Citation today, let it symbolize our profound appreciation and recognition of the sacrifices made by our forces," he continued.

Bhalla presented the Governor’s Citations to distinguished units, including the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, and District Police Units of Manipur, such as the CID-Crime Branch of the state Police, all of which have contributed exemplary service within the state.

In related news, the Manipur Police apprehended nine hardcore militants, comprising eight guerrillas from various factions of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), in different areas of Imphal East and Thoubal districts, recovering a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition.

A police spokesperson noted that the apprehended militants are directly implicated in kidnapping and extortion activities targeting the general populace, government employees, officials, petrol-pump operators, contractors, and local businesses.
