Imphal, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, called upon the citizens of the state on Wednesday to foster peace and ethnic harmony while striving for comprehensive development.

During his speech at the First Battalion of Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, marking the occasion of Manipur’s Statehood Day, the Governor emphasized that this day represents the state’s democratic aspirations, constitutional empowerment, and a shared collective identity.

He highlighted Manipur’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic traditions, praising the resilience of its people, whose accomplishments in art, sports, culture, and public service have earned national acclaim.

“As we celebrate this significant occasion, let us renew our commitment to peace, unity, and inclusive growth. May the essence of this day inspire us to cultivate harmony within our communities and build a future characterized by stability, prosperity, and dignity for every citizen,” Bhalla remarked.

The Governor appealed to all citizens, particularly the youth, to promote peace, unity, and the rule of law, while actively engaging in nation-building efforts.

He noted that Statehood Day should motivate every individual to fortify democracy through responsible actions and a shared commitment.

In a message sent via letter to the Governor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people of Manipur, stating that since 2014, the Centre has been dedicated to the mantra of “Act East, Act Fast” to empower the Northeastern region, unlock developmental prospects, and meet the aspirations of its populace.

The Prime Minister underscored his strong belief in the vast potential of the Northeastern people and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to their inclusive growth and prosperity.

“I honor my sisters and brothers of Manipur for their extraordinary courage and steadfast faith in peace and progress,” PM Modi stated, assuring the state of the Centre’s unwavering support in enhancing its development trajectory.

Governor Bhalla mentioned that the Prime Minister’s message resonated deeply with the people of the state.

He added that PM Modi recognized Manipur’s pivotal role in Indian history and acknowledged its achievements in sports, culture, and natural beauty, with the message warmly received across the state.

Reflecting on the Prime Minister’s visit to Manipur on September 13 of the previous year, the Governor remarked how Modi connected profoundly with the children and citizens of Churachandpur and Imphal, where thousands turned out to welcome him despite persistent rain and unfavorable weather.

“In gratitude for his concern, support, and caring gestures, the people of Manipur express their heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister,” Bhalla concluded.

Later in the day, the Governor inaugurated a monumental National Flag at Kangla Nongpok Torban in Imphal. This installation marks the first of its kind in Manipur and is part of the Flag Foundation of India’s initiative aimed at enhancing national pride and the visibility of the Tiranga across the nation.
