Imphal, Jan 26 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, expressed on Sunday that peace and harmony are set to return to the state in the near future.

During the celebrations marking the 76th Republic Day, the Chief Minister conveyed his contentment while observing the march-past of contingents and participants from various parts of the state during this pivotal moment. He further emphasized that this would instill new hope among the residents, signaling the imminent return of peace and harmony in the state.

“This signifies a fresh hope for the populace to coexist and contribute towards a robust and united Manipur,” he remarked. Singh highlighted that the state government has persistently pursued development initiatives, even amidst the extraordinary challenges faced.

He noted that with the people's ongoing support and collaboration, the state is progressing towards development at an accelerated pace. The Chief Minister asserted that protecting and safeguarding Manipur should be the foremost priority for every Manipuri and urged the public to play their roles in strengthening and unifying both Manipur and Bharat.

The main Republic Day function was hosted at the historic Kangla Fort, where Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla hoisted the National flag and reviewed the parades from various march-past contingents.

Singh remarked that India has undergone a remarkable transformation in terms of development under the clear-sighted vision and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his direction, India is on the path to becoming the 4th largest economy globally, he stated. He also mentioned that India has achieved the milestone of being the fourth nation to successfully complete space docking.

The Chief Minister elaborated on the initiatives undertaken to advance various sectors, including social welfare, health, and education, while also focusing on the preservation of culture and traditions.

The Governor raised the Tricolour accompanied by the National Anthem played by the first battalion of the Manipur Rifles Band and subsequently took salute from 54 different march-past contingents, including various band formations, under the command of Laishram Sarita Devi, Superintendent of Police (Sports).

In addition, 10 cultural troupes and displays from 12 different Departments, along with a special drive-past by the Manipur Fire Service Department, participated in the march-past. On this occasion, the Governor awarded police medals to several personnel of the Manipur Police for their distinguished service during Republic Day 2023 and Independence Day 2023.
