Mumbai, May 16 (NationPress) Actor Manish Chaudhary, recognized for his role as Sunil Puri in ‘Rocket Singh’, expressed his profound admiration for Ranbir Kapoor, labeling him as one of the last true “cinematic superstars” of this era.
In a discussion about Kapoor’s remarkable versatility, Chaudhary elaborated on what makes the 'Rockstar' actor distinctive in today’s shifting cinematic landscape. When prompted about his earlier forecast regarding Ranbir's rise to stardom, Manish Chaudhary confidently reaffirmed his stance.
Chaudhary stated to IANS, “I believe that social media has completely transformed the industry. The idea of a purely cinematic superstar has evolved. In the past, attending a film featuring legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, or Dharmendra felt like an extraordinary experience. We established a unique bond with them through the cinema. Nowadays, with actors being perpetually visible on social media, that mystique has diminished somewhat. In my perspective, Ranbir is among the last genuine cinematic superstars—alongside Shah Rukh Khan. However, the star power we once recognized has certainly changed.”
When asked if he believes Ranbir Kapoor is the last authentic superstar of Indian cinema, Manish Chaudhary recognized that the meaning of superstardom has shifted with the advent of social media, complicating the assessment of enduring star power. Although he firmly considers Ranbir a superstar in the current landscape, he remarked that whether he will be the last of his kind is something only time will tell.
Manish Chaudhary collaborated with the ‘Animal’ star in the 2009 comedy-drama “Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year,” where Ranbir played the lead role.
Reflecting on his career in the film industry, Manish Chaudhary shared, “My journey in Bollywood has been incredibly fulfilling. By June, I will have completed thirty years in the Hindi film industry. It’s been a fantastic and rewarding experience, and I aspire to continue for many more years.”
