Chandigarh, July 11 (NationPress) Bhagwant Singh Mann criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s international trips, asserting that as the Chief Minister of Punjab, he possesses the authority to scrutinize the nation’s foreign policy.

During a media briefing, he expressed his intent to continuously question Modi's foreign excursions. “In light of the India-Pakistan conflict, where global backing was absent, what is the purpose of these visits?” Mann challenged. He responded to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticism by highlighting the ongoing Punjab-Haryana water conflict.

Mann remarked that more individuals observe a JCB machine than the total population of countries from which Modi receives prestigious accolades. He accused Modi of prioritizing international travel while neglecting the concerns of 1.4 billion Indians.

Previously, the MEA labeled Mann’s remarks as ‘irresponsible’. “It’s unclear where he travels. Now he has gone to places I cannot specify... (But) he is not present in a country with a population of 1.4 billion. The nations he visits have populations of merely 15,000, yet he receives the highest honors there. Meanwhile, 15,000 people gather to watch a JCB machine,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also criticized the Prime Minister for not conducting a single press conference during his 11-year tenure. He accused the BJP-led Central government of favoring notorious criminals incarcerated in Gujarat. Mann assured that severe measures would be taken against those involved in organized crime and drug trafficking, emphasizing that no leniency will be shown.

He asserted that the Union government is intent on stifling democratic voices by filing FIRs against AAP and its leaders. Mann stated, “It has become the norm that anyone who speaks the truth faces FIRs,” pointing out that Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and others have been imprisoned merely for their honesty. He expressed their readiness to combat such attempts to suppress their voices, affirming their trust in the legal system meant to protect them.

Mann indicated that more arrests and FIRs are imminent as the BJP aims to silence dissent against Modi. He declared, “Today marks a historic occasion for the state as five pro-people bills have been unanimously passed in the state Vidhan Sabha.”

He affirmed that every effort is underway to restore the state’s former glory, promising that no effort will be spared. CM Mann stated that additional pro-Punjab and development-oriented initiatives will be announced by the state government shortly.

Point of View

It is essential to recognize the significance of Mann's statements amidst a politically charged atmosphere. His criticisms reflect a growing discontent among regional leaders regarding the central government's foreign policy. This situation warrants attention as it may influence public opinion and lead to shifts in political dynamics.
