New Delhi, Oct 25 (NationPress) American singer and actress Mary Millben, celebrated for her heartfelt performances and cultural diplomacy, has voiced her profound admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as "a good friend" and commending his leadership on both national and international platforms.
Millben, who has graced prestigious events in India, characterized her encounters with the Prime Minister as "unforgettable and uplifting".
In an interview with IANS regarding her time with PM Modi, Millben stated, "I hold immense respect for the Prime Minister, who has indeed become a close friend. One of my most unforgettable experiences was when the Prime Minister visited the United States as an esteemed guest... I had the privilege of attending a Yoga Day at the United Nations in New York alongside the Prime Minister and Richard Gere, among others. I felt deeply honored to be seated near what I believe was the then-head of the UN. Being together for the yoga event was deeply impactful. Performing for the Prime Minister remains a significant honor, but that day stands out because it was my first opportunity to see him in a more relaxed atmosphere."
"It was truly heartwarming to witness his kindness and engagement with everyone present, especially the many young individuals. Watching him partake in yoga was remarkable," she remarked.
Millben, who has performed the Indian National Anthem and various patriotic songs at countless India-related events in the United States, expressed her emotional bond with India. She shared, "It’s well-known that I adore India and cherish the Indian people and communities worldwide."
"Since my initial introduction to India through music, and my advocacy for pro-India policies and support for Prime Minister Modi, I feel fortunate to now consider India and its people a part of my heart—not just for the music and culture but for the shared values... Growing up, we had a wonderful woman, Smita Patil, of Indian descent, who played a significant role in our upbringing while my mother was busy as a pastor. She became like an older sister, immersing us in Indian culture, cuisine, and music from an early age. I owe a lot to Smita for introducing us to many facets of Indian heritage," she continued.
Commenting on 'Operation Sindoor' and current global conflicts, Millben praised PM Modi's leadership and compassion during challenging times.
She remarked, "I have publicly stated this before, but I want to emphasize it again because the loss of life and the families that are undoubtedly still mourning will unfortunately persist. While the news cycles shift and life continues, the impact on these families remains. I extend my condolences once more to those who lost loved ones in that tragic terrorist attack."
She added, "We are witnessing a troubling escalation of conflict worldwide, and I hope more leaders like Prime Minister Modi, along with President Donald Trump, whose leadership has recently led to several peace agreements, will step up to help alleviate conflict and foster peace in various regions. I commend the Prime Minister for his leadership, including the sacrifices made to restore peace in the region after that dreadful terrorist attack. I commend his bold leadership in defending India and continuing to do so..."
Millben, who often refers to India as her "second home," remains committed to promoting stronger cultural and diplomatic ties between India and the United States, crediting Prime Minister Modi for inspiring millions around the world through his inclusive vision and unwavering leadership.
