Kolkata, April 9 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted an image showcasing a huge crowd gathered at the rally site in Suri, which is part of the Birbhum district in West Bengal, eagerly anticipating his arrival.
He observed that the venue was overflowing with supporters, interpreting this as a strong indication of the BJP's increasing influence in the region.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi remarked, "I am set to address a rally in Birbhum. The ground is filled with individuals who have come to extend their blessings. It's all about the BJP in West Bengal!"
The photo included with the post illustrated a large audience at the event, with a prominent stage visible, underscoring the significant turnout for PM Modi's rally.
Excitement surged through Suri as numerous BJP supporters arrived hours in advance of the Prime Minister's address.
This Birbhum rally represents PM Modi's third public appearance of the day in the state, following events in Haldia and Asansol. Despite being the final rally of the day, the area was already brimming with supporters, signaling high anticipation and enthusiasm among the populace.
Jagarnath Chatterjee, the BJP candidate for Suri, stated in an interview with IANS that the atmosphere clearly reflects a groundswell of support for the party.
"You can observe the excitement within the crowd. The ground is already filled, even with time left before the Prime Minister's arrival. Supporters have traveled from all corners of Birbhum. This is shaping up to be a historic rally, and we are confident of securing a majority of seats to replace the Trinamool party," he expressed.
Attendees at the rally linked their support to issues of development and security. One supporter emphasized the need for the kind of progress seen under the Prime Minister's guidance, stating, "We desire development in West Bengal, and we believe it can be achieved under PM Modi's leadership."
In particular, women attendees articulated their safety concerns and expressed aspirations for change. "We are thrilled that PM Modi is visiting Birbhum. We want the BJP to emerge victorious here. Women feel unsafe, and our families are reluctant to allow us outside after 8 p.m. We seek a safer environment," one woman supporter conveyed.
As chants and slogans resonated throughout the venue, the gathering demonstrated a significant level of political engagement, with supporters expressing optimism regarding the rally's potential influence on the electoral dynamics in West Bengal.
During a separate rally in Asansol earlier that day, a poignant moment arose when an attendee displayed a sign directed at the Prime Minister, reading, "Respected Modi ji, please save West Bengal," which highlighted several issues plaguing the public, including corruption, law and order, infiltration, women's safety, and unemployment.
This incident occurred as the election campaign in West Bengal gained momentum ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29.
The first phase will witness polling across 152 Assembly constituencies, while the remaining 142 seats will vote in the second phase. The counting of votes is set for May 4.
