As per a police statement, “On 21/02/26, a PCR Call at 3.26 am concerning an accident and an injured person was received at PS Tilak Nagar. Both vehicles were located near the Subhash Nagar Metro red light, along Najafgarh road, heading towards Rajouri Garden.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the injured rider had already been transported to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, where he was sadly declared ‘brought dead’ by attending medical staff.
The body of the victim has been sent for a post-mortem examination. Officials confirmed that a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident is ongoing.
The police reiterated that the suspects are in custody and that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding the incident.
In a statement to IANS, the victim's brother expressed his sorrow and called for justice, saying, “I lost my younger brother. It was just me, my mother, and him. The car was speeding, and because of that, I lost my brother. He was only 25. We demand justice.”
Eyewitnesses claimed the vehicle was traveling at a dangerously high speed at the time of the incident.
One witness stated that the Verna was going at approximately 100 km/h, initially crashing into a wall, then hitting a pole before finally colliding with the e-scooter.
Another eyewitness claimed that if the vehicle had not been impeded by a sewer structure, the situation could have been much worse, potentially injuring more individuals.
A petrol pump employee nearby recounted, “This morning, a car speeding at around 100 km/h crashed into the delivery boy's electric motorcycle. The rider was knocked unconscious, and the car attempted to flee but was soon stopped by bystanders. The driver appeared to be intoxicated.”
A colleague of the deceased noted, “The rider was on duty when the accident occurred. Now he has lost his life. The car was speeding at around 100 km/h, and two individuals in the vehicle were allegedly drunk. They are currently at the police station being interrogated.”
Authorities are continuing to gather information regarding the conditions surrounding the crash, particularly allegations that the car's occupants were under the influence of alcohol during the incident.
