Jaipur, June 29 (NationPress) The Agriculture Minister of Rajasthan, Kirori Lal Meena, has escalated his efforts against the rising issues of fake fertilizers, low-quality seeds, and imitation pesticides being distributed to farmers throughout the state.
In an interview with IANS, Meena emphasized that the Modi government adopts a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption and unethical practices, and measures are being implemented to safeguard farmers from deceit.
“The Union Minister and our double-engine government continually seek transparency in all endeavors,” Meena remarked.
“Anyone found guilty of selling fake fertilizers or pesticides will face consequences. I have contacted Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, urging immediate action and a robust legal framework,” he stated.
Recently, Meena has personally led raids on numerous factories in Rajasthan suspected of producing and distributing fraudulent agricultural products. Significant crackdowns took place in cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, and Sri Ganganagar. During these operations, warehouses were sealed, samples were collected for laboratory analysis, and legal actions have commenced against offenders.
In response to Meena's initiatives, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan issued a stern warning to wrongdoers earlier this week.
“Those engaged in such malpractice will encounter strict legal repercussions. We will soon introduce a stringent law to prevent the production and sale of counterfeit fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides,” Chouhan declared.
Chouhan praised Meena's crackdown, labeling it a significant measure in protecting the interests of farmers. He highlighted that both the Centre and state governments are united in their mission to ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs and justice for farmers who suffer due to compromised products.
This coordinated effort underscores the BJP government's commitment to restoring trust among the farming community while combating an illegal industry that not only deceives farmers but also jeopardizes crop yield and food security.
Meena reiterated his call for legislative action, assuring that the forthcoming law will address existing gaps and hold accountable those who threaten farmers’ livelihoods.
