Will MI Cape Town Conquer Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20 Opener on Dec 26?

Johannesburg, July 9 (NationPress) The reigning champions MI Cape Town will kick off their title defense against Durban’s Super Giants on December 26 at the scenic Newlands, as the SA20 league unveiled its schedule for Season 4 on Wednesday.

The championship match is set for January 25, 2026, with Qualifier 1 on January 21, the Eliminator on January 22, and Qualifier 2 on January 23. The venues for the final and playoff matches will be announced in due course.

“We have meticulously crafted the fixture list to maximize the festive season and school holidays. We aspire for SA20 to be an integral part of the holiday celebrations this year. We are also thrilled to introduce fixtures on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day for the first time. We eagerly anticipate joining the New Year festivities alongside our fans,” stated league commissioner Graeme Smith.

South Africa's premier franchise T20 league will commence the holiday season with a thrilling Boxing Day opener. The first double-header of Season 4 will occur on December 27, featuring a special derby between Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings at Centurion, while Paarl Royals will clash with Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Boland Park.

Kingsmead, the home of Durban’s Super Giants, will be bustling with activity in the week leading to the New Year, hosting both MI Cape Town (December 28) and Joburg Super Kings (December 30) in quick succession.

Fans can look forward to celebrating the New Year in style with an exciting double-header on December 31, 2025, as two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape take on Paarl Royals at the jubilant St. George’s Park, followed by a match featuring MI Cape Town and Pretoria Capitals at Newlands later that evening (2100 hrs IST).

The celebrations will carry on into New Year’s Day when Joburg Super Kings and Durban’s Super Giants aim to kick off 2026 with a win at The Wanderers.

The action resumes on January 2, 2026, with a thrilling Cape derby at Boland Park between Paarl Royals and their neighbors MI Cape Town.

Paarl Royals will aim to maintain their stellar home record, having won all five of their home matches last season. Remarkably, MI Cape Town achieved the same feat at Newlands.

The SA20 carnival will move north to the Highveld for a “Super Saturday” double-header on January 3, featuring Joburg Super Kings vs. Sunrisers Eastern Cape at The Wanderers, followed by Pretoria Capitals facing Durban’s Super Giants at Centurion.
