Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Aug 6 (NationPress) The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a B.Sc student in Kalaburagi district, Karnataka, has escalated, with the girl's parents and a Hindu organization claiming it may be a case of love jihad.
A report has been filed at the Gulbarga University Police Station, and the investigation is currently ongoing.
According to authorities, the young woman, a member of the Jain community and enrolled in a private college for her B.Sc degree, went missing on June 30 after she left home to take an exam.
Initial inquiries revealed that she had been in communication with a boy named Mashaq, who lives in Gobbara village.
Upon discovering this, her parents allegedly restricted her from attending regular classes and permitted her to go only for examinations. There are suspicions that she may have eloped with Mashaq.
Mahaveer Jain, the girl's father, expressed frustration that, eight days after his daughter went missing, the police had not made significant progress. "They have yet to locate her. I believe this is a case of love jihad. My daughter's future is in jeopardy," he stated.
Laxmikanth Savadi, representing the Hindu Jagruthi Vedike, voiced his discontent regarding the situation.
"It has been eight days since her disappearance, and police action has been lacking. Mashaq, along with two other individuals, is reportedly involved in targeting young girls from Hindu and other communities in the area. If no action is taken soon, we will not stay quiet," he warned.
The police have registered a missing person case and are actively investigating the issue. This case is expected to incite significant controversy in the region.
