The unfortunate event occurred when passengers of the Pushpak Express were struck by the Karnataka Express train in the Pachora region of Jalgaon district, located in North Maharashtra.
This incident unfolded around 5 p.m. on the railway line connecting Mahiji and Pardhade stations. Passengers had exited their coaches due to suspicions of a fire in the train.
Panic ensued at Paranda railway station in Jalgaon district fueled by rumors of a fire on the Pushpak Express.
The Pushpak Express, traveling from Lucknow to Mumbai, had stopped after passengers activated the emergency chain, coinciding with the approach of the Karnataka Express from Manmad to Bhusawal on the adjacent track.
According to eyewitness accounts, chaos erupted when sparks were seen from the wheels of the halted Pushpak Express near Paranda station.
