Jaipur, April 9 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the nation's first Integrated Refinery-cum-Petrochemical Complex by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited at Balotra on April 21.

According to Sharma, the Pachpadra Refinery is anticipated to become a vital element in national energy security and will invigorate the economic landscape of Rajasthan.

During a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister's Office on Thursday, he directed officials to ensure that the Prime Minister's visit is organized impeccably and leaves a lasting impression.

Sharma also mentioned that Modi will address a public assembly and initiate the dispatch of liquefied petroleum gas tankers manufactured at the refinery.

He instructed officials to implement extensive arrangements for the event, covering seating, drinking water, healthcare services, constant power supply, parking, traffic management, and security measures.

Additionally, the Chief Minister urged the Traffic Police and Transport Department to work in tandem to facilitate smooth traffic and sufficient parking. Instructions were also given regarding vegetation activities within the refinery grounds.

Sharma emphasized that the Hindustan Refinery and Petrochemical Limited facility will produce not only petrol and diesel but also polypropylene, Linear Low-Density Polyethylene, High-Density Polyethylene, benzene, toluene, and butadiene.

These products are expected to greatly benefit various industries, including transportation, pharmaceuticals, paints, and packaging.

He further stated that this initiative will bolster energy self-sufficiency, diminish reliance on imports in the petrochemical industry, and create numerous direct and indirect job opportunities for the youth, along with pathways for skill enhancement.

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited refinery at Pachpadra is strategically positioned to fulfill both state and national energy needs.

The updated project cost is pegged at Rs 79,459 crore, with a refining capability of nine million metric tonnes annually. The refinery will process a mixture of 1.5–2.5 million tonnes of Rajasthan crude and 6.5–7.5 million tonnes of imported crude. Spanning approximately 4,400 acres, the facility has already begun commercial production of liquefied petroleum gas.

Notable officials at the meeting included Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma, as well as representatives from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and other relevant departments.
