Mumbai, Sep 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the Chief Minister's Short-Term Employability Course Programme in Maharashtra through a virtual event on October 9.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Maharashtra’s Minister of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, announced on Monday that in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Amrit Mahotsav birthday, the initiative aims to train 75,000 trainees annually across 2,506 batches. This training will commence in 419 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 141 Government Technical Schools throughout the state.

Minister Lodha emphasized that by offering employment-oriented training in a short time frame, the program will generate skilled manpower aligned with industry requirements. It is also focused on providing skill training to women and young individuals from rural backgrounds, fostering opportunities for self-employment.

He mentioned the significance of this scheme in positioning Maharashtra as a leader in modern technology businesses.

The government intends to implement the Chief Minister's Short-Term Employability Course Programme outside regular institutional hours, utilizing the existing infrastructure at the industrial training institutes and technical schools. A standardized procedure along with an online admission system has been established, reserving 25 percent of seats for internal students and the rest for external applicants. The training fees will range from Rs 1,000 to 5,000 per month.

According to the minister, the program will cover a variety of new-age and traditional vocational courses aimed at enhancing employability.

These courses will include offerings in Additive Manufacturing, Aerospace Structure Fitting, Internet of Things, Electric Vehicles, Solar Energy, Drone Technology, Social Media Influencing, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Green Hydrogen, and Mobile Repair Technician.

Participants will include students currently enrolled in ITIs, those who have completed their ITI, and individuals with diplomas or degrees in higher and technical education, including students who have completed class 10th and 12th.

Reportedly, 364 batches will be dedicated to women in emerging sectors, while 408 batches will focus on business courses such as Electric Vehicles, Solar Energy, Green Hydrogen Production, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things. Two additional batches will be created for the “Vedic Sanskar Junior Assistant” trade in preparation for the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
