New Delhi, Nov 5 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media on Wednesday to convey his warm wishes to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, highlighting that the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji remain a profound source of inspiration.

In his post on the platform ‘X’, PM Modi expressed, “The life and message of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji continue to illuminate humanity with their eternal wisdom. His teachings, rooted in compassion, equality, humility, and service, serve as a beacon for us all. Greetings on his Parkash Purab. May his divine light keep illuminating our planet forever.”

The BJP also joined in the celebrations on social media, stating, “Heartfelt greetings on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the esteemed founder and first Guru of Sikhism.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared his wishes, writing on X, “Heartiest greetings on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who imparted the messages of peace, love, equality, and humanity to the world. While he emphasized devotion as the core principle of life, he also encouraged individuals to confront injustice and oppression without fear. He initiated the langar tradition for social equality, fostering compassion and empathy through the establishment of dharamshalas. His ideals inspire us in every facet of life.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also conveyed his wishes on Guru Nanak Jayanti, stating, “On this special occasion, congratulations and best wishes to the people of our state and the entire nation. Guru Nanak's character exemplifies the qualities of a philosopher, yogi, householder, religious founder, social reformer, poet, patriot, and global brother. He journeyed extensively to disseminate messages of peace, compassion, and humanity. Inspired by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, let us unite to foster a harmonious society.”

The Congress Party also shared their greetings, stating on X, “Warm greetings on Guru Nanak Jayanti! May the divine teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji motivate us to pursue the path of truth, equality, and compassion. Heartfelt wishes from the entire Congress family on this sacred occasion.”

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) remarked, “True Guru Nanak appeared. The mist and darkness have vanished, and the world is aglow with light. Millions of greetings to humanity on the birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, the universal Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. On this holy day, let us follow the path laid out by Guru Sahib Ji and strive for equality, unity, and the greater good of all.”

Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, stated, “Greetings on the Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. His life and message of equality, compassion, and truth inspire all of humanity. Let’s recommit ourselves to creating a just and humane society, embodying the noble teachings of our revered Guru in our daily lives.”

Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated with immense devotion over three days. In Gurudwaras, an Akhand Path—a continuous 48-hour recitation of the Sikh holy scripture—is organized. On the eve of the festival, a grand procession led by the Panj Pyaras takes place, where the Sikh flag is displayed with honor across Punjab and beyond.

On the festival day, devotees gather early to sing Asa-di-Var, while priests recite sacred hymns and poems in Gurudwaras. Later, a langar (community meal) is prepared and shared among families, friends, and devotees. The day concludes with the singing of holy hymns, spreading joy, devotion, and a message of equality and unity.
