New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) - Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju remarked on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided insightful direction to NDA leaders regarding the forthcoming state elections. He urged them to remain engaged at the grassroots level to uphold the coalition's winning streak.
Rijiju noted that NDA MPs expressed their congratulations to the Prime Minister for a string of trade agreements established with developed nations, which he believes will “significantly benefit the common populace.”
The NDA Parliamentary Party held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Union Budget 2026 and the government's overarching vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. This gathering took place at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi.
Notable attendees included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, along with other NDA ministers and MPs.
Post-meeting, Rijiju informed the media that the Bharatiya Janata Party formally welcomed its new national president, Nitin Nabin, during the session.
“There was a discussion on historic trade agreements under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, including nine deals labeled as free trade agreements. The India-EU Free Trade Agreement was signed less than a week ago. Furthermore, a trade agreement with the United States was finalized yesterday, creating a buzz among the public. Everyone present at the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting was thrilled and congratulated the Prime Minister for this,” he stated.
India and the United States reached a trade agreement on Monday after a phone conversation between Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump. This represented the second trade agreement concluded by India in just ten days.
“These momentous trade deals with 39 developed countries illustrate that under the Prime Minister's leadership, all these nations are eager to collaborate and engage with India. This will immensely enhance the lives of our common citizens. These are all developed nations, whether they are member states of the EU, Australia, New Zealand, or the UK,” Rijiju added.
Earlier in the day, when Prime Minister Modi arrived for the meeting, reporters congratulated him on the India-US trade deal. The Prime Minister responded with a smile, waving at the reporters while saying, “Thank you!”
Furthermore, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister stated that the Prime Minister provided “excellent guidance” to all NDA MPs.
“He conveyed to all NDA colleagues that the NDA family is continuously winning elections. Elections are not won by mere words; to succeed, one must engage with the community and advance the nation through sound policies. Wherever the NDA government is established—be it at the central, state, or local levels—it is achieving success across the board,” Rijiju remarked.
Rijiju also criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, accusing him of disrupting House proceedings by raising the Ladakh standoff issue while referencing an article from a magazine linked to an “unpublished book” by former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane.
“Yesterday, there was a productive debate in the Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha also began positively. However, due to Rahul Gandhi, the entire day's debate was interrupted. The Rajya Sabha saw an engaging discussion, with MPs actively participating and contributing valuable suggestions. While discussions in both houses started well, they were derailed because of Rahul Gandhi,” he stated.
“In accordance with procedure, it is important for everyone to uphold the rules. We are all elected members, and the House functions based on the Rules of Business and established conduct. Therefore, no one should disregard this, and all must comply,” he continued.
“With good intentions, even if someone struggles to articulate their points in a debate, they should not undermine others. Within the Congress and opposition parties, several MPs engage in meaningful debate, offer constructive suggestions, and wish to speak, but their time is squandered due to Rahul Gandhi,” Rijiju added.
“The Congress party can never appreciate anything positive; it is part of their nature. They are incapable of achieving anything worthwhile, and even when something advantageous occurs for the nation, they cannot endure it,” he concluded.
