Chennai, Dec 2 (NationPress) Renowned Malayalam filmmaker Tharun Moorthy, who recently celebrated the success of the Mohanlal-led blockbuster 'Thudarum', has announced that he is reuniting with the legendary Mohanlal for another cinematic venture.

In an exciting post on his X account, Tharun expressed, "When a storyteller and a legend come together once more, a new universe begins to unfold. Following 'Thudarum', @Mohanlal and I are setting sail on a fresh journey, supported by the creative force of Ashiq Usman Productions. Filming begins soon..."

This announcement has ignited a wave of enthusiasm among fans, many of whom speculate whether this new project could be a sequel to one of Tharun Moorthy's previous films.

Earlier this year, during Onam festivities, Tharun had hinted at the possibility of developing a sequel to one of his earlier works.

He shared, "Happy Onam! This year’s celebration is particularly meaningful for me. I am savoring every moment of my artistic journey. We are engaged in serious discussions about a sequel to one of my films. Personal encounters and real-life inspirations are urging me to revisit this project. While it’s not official yet, it feels almost like it is."

Tharun reminisced about how opportunities first emerged for him during a previous Onam.

He noted, "During an Onam season, when I felt completely lost, a door opened for me. This year, I couldn’t let that signal slip away. Yes, I’ve resumed writing, focusing on the sequel to one of my films. I’ll provide more official updates soon. Stay tuned, as always."

With Tharun Moorthy now collaborating with Mohanlal, fans are left pondering if this film will serve as a sequel to the blockbuster 'Thudarum'.

For those unfamiliar, 'Thudarum' was a captivating crime action drama featuring Mohanlal and Shobana. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film created significant buzz for various reasons.

Primarily, it marked the reunion of actress Shobana with Mohanlal after nearly 19 years. Their onscreen chemistry is cherished by fans of Malayalam cinema, showcased in iconic films such as 'Manichithrathazhu', 'Thenmavi Kombathu', and 'Mambazhakkalam'.

Additionally, this film represented Mohanlal’s 360th project and his 56th collaboration with Shobana.

'Thudarum' broke box office records upon its release earlier this year, grossing over a staggering Rs 100 crore in Kerala alone.
