Chennai, Mar 24 (NationPress) Malayalam superstar Mohanlal emphasized that his choice to pray for the swift recovery and well-being of his friend and fellow star Mammootty at Sabarimala is a personal matter, and he believes it's inappropriate to disclose further details.

During a pre-release event for director Prithviraj’s ‘L2: Empuraan’, Mohanlal was inquired about his friendship with Mammootty, for whom he recently sought blessings at Sabarimala.

The actor stated, “Why should I disclose that? I visited Sabarimala and prayed for him. Someone from the Devaswom board leaked that receipt to the media. It’s a personal matter, isn’t it? Why should I reveal information about someone I pray for?”

Mohanlal continued, “Many people say they will pray for you but talk about something else. If you say you’ll pray for someone, you must genuinely do so. He (Mammootty) is my friend, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I can pray for you, too.”

Highlighting Mammootty’s significant fan base in Tamil Nadu and the concerning speculative reports regarding his health, Mohanlal was asked, “As a close friend, how is he? Have you spoken to him?”

In response, the actor said, “Mammootty is doing well. He had a minor issue, just like everyone else. There’s nothing to be alarmed about.”

The plot of Mohanlal's film L2: Empuraan (L2E), currently being produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Lyca Productions, and Sri Gokulam Movies, has been scripted by Murali Gopy, with music composed by Deepak Dev. The film is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, featuring cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev and editing by Akhilesh Mohan.

The first part of the franchise, Lucifer, released in 2019 and marked Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut, became a blockbuster within just eight days, grossing over Rs 200 crore, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film to date.

Anticipation for the sequel, set to release on March 27 this year, has undoubtedly increased.
