Seattle, Sep 30 (NationPress) In a bid to strengthen people-to-people connections, particularly among the youth of both nations, a group of 10 students from Montana, USA, recently explored the wonders of India. Upon their return, these students shared their captivating experiences of 'Incredible India' during a warm welcome reception organized by Montana Governor Greg Gianforte at the State Capitol in Helena, as reported by the Consulate General of India on Tuesday, in India time.
At the reception, the Montana students recounted their adventures to an audience comprising esteemed scholars, media professionals, and industry figures who had convened at the State Capitol. The delegation’s two-week journey highlighted the significance of nurturing stronger ties between the upcoming generation of leaders from India and the United States.
During the address at Helena, Governor Gianforte applauded the newly-established Indian Consulate in Seattle for its role in fostering people-to-people relations, especially among the youth of both countries.
The Montana delegation was headed by Jason Smith, a member of the Board of Directors of the Montana World Affairs Council. Their itinerary featured renowned cultural sites and experiences, including the Rath Yatra in Odisha, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the ISKCON Temple in Vrindavan, the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, and the Bara Imambara and Rumi Darwaza in Lucknow.
These students were selected through a rigorous series of outreach programs focused on India across various school districts in Montana, culminating in the Indian Film Festival at the University of Montana in Missoula earlier this year.
Reflecting on his visit to India, Jason Smith remarked, “I have always found my time in India to be magical. The people are warm and wonderful — the sights and sounds are incredibly unique. There's no place like it on Planet Earth. It is crucial for our young delegation to connect with their peers and to realize that there is more that unites us than divides us.”
The Consulate General of India in Seattle collaborated closely with the Montana World Affairs Council to organize this uniquely tailored visit.
The program included interactions with senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, visits to premier educational institutions like KIIT/KISS in Odisha and CMS in Lucknow, and vibrant exchanges with their youth counterparts in Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.
Throughout this immersive experience, the Montana students also took part in interactive workshops to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Indian arts and culture.
