Sheopur/Morena, Nov 27 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday transferred Rs 238.78 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than three lakh farmers as compensation for their paddy crops that suffered damage from heavy rainfall that occurred a few weeks ago.
The Chief Minister conducted the fund transfer during a ceremonial event in Sheopur district, with the presence of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar.
The farmers benefiting from this relief aid hail from seven districts: Sheopur, Morena, Harda, Vidisha, Narmadapuram, Dhar, and Khandwa, compensating them for losses incurred due to extreme rainfall, flooding, and the yellow mosaic pest disease.
Following the fund transfer, Chief Minister Yadav stated, "Our government is committed to supporting farmers at every step and is dedicated to fulfilling the promises made to the people," as he executed the transfer with a single click during the event.
Subsequently, Chief Minister Yadav participated in an event at the Morena district headquarters, inaugurating and performing 'bhoomi-poojan' for several development projects valued at over Rs 162.55 crore.
He also laid the foundation stone for a new Ayurvedic College building in Morena, costing Rs 70 crore, which will feature a 100-bed hospital. This initiative is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for residents of around 20 nearby villages.
It is important to note that unseasonal rains accompanied by high-speed winds during the last week of October led to significant damage to paddy crops that were nearing harvest in several districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The President of the State Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), Kamal Singh Anjana, remarked that the recent heavy rains caused extensive damage to crops in multiple districts, including Rewa, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Mandla, Dindori, Hoshangabad, Harda, Betul, Sehore, and others.
