Hyderabad, Feb 11 (NationPress) The leader of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), Manda Krishna Madiga, met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday to highlight and request corrections regarding specific shortcomings in the report from the Judicial Commission on the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs) for the purpose of implementing reservation.
During the meeting, Manda Krishna Madiga expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Congress government for passing a resolution in the Assembly aimed at enforcing the Supreme Court directive concerning sub-categorisation. However, he pointed out that there are certain flaws in the report compiled by Justice Shameem Akhtar, a retired High Court judge.
The report was presented in the Assembly on February 4.
After the meeting, the MRPS founder stated that the SCs should be categorized into groups A, B, C, and D instead of 1, 2, and 3 as proposed by the Judicial Commission.
As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Manda Krishna commended Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his dedication to fulfilling the promise of sub-classification for the SCs.
The MRPS leader extended his support to the state government, referring to the Chief Minister as his brother, for initiating the official process of SC categorization. He also briefed the Chief Minister about the challenges encountered in the classification of SC sub-castes.
The Chief Minister assured that the Telangana government is devoted to delivering justice to the Madiga community and its sub-castes without any political maneuvering.
CM Revanth Reddy provided the delegation led by Manda Krishna with an overview of discussions held in the Assembly, the formation of a Cabinet sub-committee, and the Judicial Commission aimed at hastening the categorisation of SCs.
The Cabinet reviewed the Commission report and granted its approval. The Chief Minister emphasized that the official procedures undertaken by the state government for SC categorization have been crucial in preventing legal complications.
The MRPS representatives reminded that the CM, during his tenure as an opposition MLA, advocated for a resolution supporting the classification of SC subcastes.
The Chief Minister advised the delegation to present any objections or issues to the Cabinet Sub-committee and the Judicial Commission.
