Chennai, March 24 (NationPress) Academy Award-winning musician A. R. Rahman disclosed that his beloved Tamil song “Munbe Vaa” from the 2006 movie “Sillunu Oru Kadhal” has captured the heart of MS Dhoni. He shared that the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings personally informed him that it is one of his top songs.

A video featuring Rahman discussing his performance and his encounter with Dhoni at the ROAR 2026 event was posted on the official Chennai Super Kings page on X. This grand event took place at the legendary MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in anticipation of the IPL's 19th season, organized by the five-time champions for their supporters.

In the video, Rahman remarked that it was his inaugural performance in such a vast stadium environment and expressed his appreciation to CSK for the chance.

“Performing at Chepauk was an extraordinary experience. I had never performed in such a large stadium before. My gratitude goes to CSK and their fans for this opportunity,” Rahman stated.

The musician also dedicated numerous songs to the renowned captain MS Dhoni and other players, making the evening memorable for both music aficionados and cricket fans.

“I dedicated several tracks to Dhoni Saab, the captain, and other cricketers. This experience felt entirely different from my usual concerts, as the audience consisted of people who share my passion for music. It was truly remarkable. Thank you all, and best wishes!”

Discussing his interaction with Dhoni, Rahman mentioned that their conversations are generally short due to their busy lives. However, they managed to spend a few moments together this time.

“I’ve never had the chance to converse with MS for so long, as our meetings are usually just greetings at airports or other places. It was delightful to share a few minutes with him. He’s familiar with my son, and my son knows him too. It was a kind and enjoyable experience,” Rahman added.

The composer also highlighted that his beloved Tamil song “Munbe Vaa” resonates with many fans, including Dhoni, who told him it is one of his all-time favorites.

“Munbe Vaa, I believe, is a Tamil track that has become a favorite among many. He mentioned it is his favorite song, not just Suresh Raina’s,” Rahman said.

“CSK enjoys immense popularity. When I was in South Africa, people recognized me and said, 'Oh, you're from the land of CSK.'”

Rahman emphasized that both cricket and music have the power to unite people, fostering a sense of collective joy.

“It’s wonderful how cricket and music transcend boundaries. I feel privileged that events like this bring people happiness and excitement, breaking the routine of daily life. They create excitement, purpose, and a shared consciousness—unity is indeed what we need,” he concluded.
