Mumbai, Feb 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, stated on Monday that Mumbai is becoming the 'Convention Capital' of India. He expressed optimism that the modern convention center in the new, cutting-edge hotel of the 'Taj' group, located in the Bandra region, will significantly boost business prospects in Mumbai.

Fadnavis made this announcement during the groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art Taj hotel in Bandra, situated in northwest Mumbai.

The new hotel, dubbed Taj Bandstand, is expected to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Mumbai and hold substantial significance for both tourism and commercial activities, ultimately fostering a new identity for the city.

The Tata Group, particularly Taj Hotels, is pivotal in India's development trajectory.

“The Taj is more than just a hotel; it represents the pride of every Indian. Just as the Taj in Colaba became a symbol in the 20th century, this hotel will be an emblem of the 21st century,” he remarked.

Fadnavis emphasized the necessity for additional hotels boasting international-standard facilities in Mumbai and encouraged hospitality firms, including the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), to capitalize on this opportunity by initiating new projects.

“The Mumbai Municipal Corporation will actively facilitate swift decisions throughout this process. There will be no hindrances to the construction of such initiatives. The administration views itself not merely as a regulatory entity but as a partner in development,” he added.

He also mentioned that the envisioned hotel is a vision of the late Ratan Tata, the guiding force behind the Tata Group, and his aspirations are set to be realized.

Fadnavis expressed his belief that this groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone for tourism and commercial advancement in Mumbai, and he congratulated both the Indian Hotels and Tata Group.

He concluded his speech by acknowledging that IHCL operates Taj hotels across various regions of Maharashtra, throughout the nation, and internationally.
