Amaravati, July 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has called for a transformation of the state into a zero-crime-rate region by harnessing technology. He asserted that Andhra Pradesh should serve as a model for law enforcement and order through innovative tech applications.
During a review meeting on Real-Time Governance at the Secretariat, he mandated continuous surveillance of crime hotspots using CCTV cameras to mitigate criminal activities.
The Chief Minister's Office reported that he requested a revision of regulations to permit the utilization of footage from private CCTV systems, emphasizing the importance of these resources in crime prevention.
He further indicated that technology must be strategically employed to address crimes committed under the pretext of politics. He cautioned against individuals who engage in criminal activities yet blame the government and avoid police cooperation.
For such offenders, he suggested implementing the Public Safety Act to gather necessary data. The Chief Minister urged officials to identify those accountable for these crimes.
In the name of public safety and crime deterrence, he proposed extending the Public Safety Act to include the acquisition of CCTV footage from shopping centers, theaters, and hotels during investigations. Additionally, he called for an enhanced deployment of drones and CCTV systems across different sectors and inquired about the advancements in the Drone City project at Orvakallu.
Naidu recommended the use of blockchain technology to secure records and data across various government offices, insisting on thorough sanitization of revenue records.
He highlighted the necessity of integrating information from various departments through a data lake.
Officials informed him that there are currently 517 citizen services offered via WhatsApp Governance, but the Chief Minister insisted on making all services more user-friendly.
He stressed that early warning systems in areas prone to lightning must operate effectively to safeguard lives, calling for the activation of sirens in advance. Furthermore, he instructed the prompt restoration of physio-meters and sensors for monitoring groundwater levels.
CM Naidu directed the accurate recording of data regarding current water levels in reservoirs, inflows, and the amount of water discharged into the sea, noting that flood management could be enhanced through real-time tracking of reservoir inflows.
He also emphasized that information from INCOIS regarding sea wave activity and fishing zones should be readily accessible to fishermen and coastal residents.
