Key Takeaways
Nalanda, March 31 (NationPress) Families affected by the tragic stampede in Nalanda shared their heart-wrenching experiences as they mourned the loss of seven lives on Tuesday.
A deadly stampede erupted during prayers at Mata Sheetla Temple in Nalanda, resulting in seven fatalities and one severe injury, as confirmed by local law enforcement.
Temple priest Guttu Singhwah told IANS, "The crowd was overwhelming, leaving no room for movement. This overwhelming presence caused some individuals to suffer from low blood pressure, leading to a wave of panic. We attempted to assist and stabilize the situation, but by then, many had already sustained injuries."
"We waited anxiously for an ambulance, which arrived much later than expected. We seek answers from the administration and government about this delay. Had the ambulance come sooner, the outcome could have been different," he expressed.
A relative of one of the injured recounted, "We received news of the stampede at the temple. My family rushed there immediately. My mother, cousin, sister, and uncle were all injured. Sadly, seven individuals have been confirmed dead."
Another family member, visibly distraught, stated, "My sister-in-law was among those who tragically lost their lives while offering prayers at Maa Sheetla."
Upon hearing about the incident, police officials and local residents quickly assembled to launch rescue and relief operations. Photos from the scene displayed numerous devotees gathered at the temple grounds.
Rescue teams are currently on-site conducting relief efforts.
Injured individuals are being transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stampede.
Meanwhile, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed his sorrow over the loss and promised that all necessary support would be extended to those affected.
