Nalanda, March 31 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, has voiced his sorrow regarding the tragic loss of lives in the stampede that occurred during prayer services at the Mata Sheetla Temple in Nalanda on Tuesday.
The stampede reportedly happened during prayer sessions at the temple, leading to the unfortunate deaths of seven individuals and leaving another in critical condition, as confirmed by local police.
Choudhary took to X to express, "The heartbreaking incident at the Mata Sheetla Temple in Nalanda is truly devastating. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the devotees who lost their lives and to those who were injured in this unfortunate event."
He assured that all necessary support would be extended to those impacted by the incident.
"The government is committed to providing every possible aid and relief to the affected families. We have made arrangements for the proper medical treatment of the injured," he stated.
"I pray for peace for the departed souls and hope for strength for the grieving families during this difficult time. Additionally, I wish a speedy recovery to the injured," added the Deputy Chief Minister.
The tragic event took place at the Madhda Sheetla Temple located within the jurisdiction of the Deepnagar police station.
Upon awareness of the incident, police officials, accompanied by local residents, quickly rushed to the scene to initiate relief and rescue operations. Visuals from the site showed a multitude of devotees gathered within the temple premises.
Rescue teams have arrived at the location and are actively conducting relief efforts.
The injured individuals are being transported to the nearest medical facilities for urgent care.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the stampede.
Previously, in November of last year, a similar incident resulted in the deaths of at least nine people, including eight women and a 13-year-old boy, during a crowd surge at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. This incident involved approximately 25,000 devotees, overwhelming the area.
