New Delhi, Sep 30 (NationPress) The sacred celebration of Ashtami was distinguished by magnificent festivities and a considerable turnout at the renowned Shaktipeeth Shri Naina Devi Temple, situated on the hills of the Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh.
Since the break of dawn, countless devotees have flocked to the temple to engage in prayers and conduct Ashtami rituals, earnestly seeking blessings of peace, prosperity, and well-being for their families.
Pilgrims from various states, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, journeyed to the venerated shrine. This day is dedicated to the worship of Mata Mahagauri, the eighth manifestation of Goddess Durga.
Alongside the traditional Ashtami pujan, special havan rituals were held at the historic Havan Kund within the temple complex. According to SDM Dharampal, who also holds the position of Mela Officer and Temple Trust Chairman, “All preparations for the Ashtami puja were finalized in advance. Devotees are being organized into queues to facilitate smooth darshan. We are making sure that no devotee experiences any inconvenience.”
He also noted that the temple trust and district administration, under the direction of the Himachal Pradesh government, had enacted effective crowd management and safety protocols to accommodate the vast influx of pilgrims.
Priest Lucky Sharma elaborated on the day's significance, stating, “On Ashtami, Mataji is offered Kadah Prasad, which is considered her favorite. Devotees also present ahutis (sacred offerings) into the Havan Kund to seek the divine grace of the Goddess.”
“Today is Ashtami and devotees are arriving in droves, with special Aarti performed throughout the day,” he added.
Simultaneously, in the national capital Delhi, similar scenes of devotion unfolded at the iconic Jhandewalan Mata Temple. Long lines of devotees gathered from morning to pay homage and partake in the rituals of Ashtami.
One devotee remarked, “We have been visiting on Ashtami for the past 10-12 years. We come every Ashtami, especially during Navratri. The arrangements are excellent; a decade ago, it was not like this. Now, everything is organized, and no one faces any issues.”
Both temples radiated an atmosphere of spiritual fervor and devotion, as the sacred festival of Navratri continues to bring together people from various states in celebration of the divine feminine energy.
