The renowned Naina Devi temple, perched atop a hill in the Bilaspur district, experienced a surge of pilgrims, particularly from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, as reported by temple authorities.
Other popular sites such as the Chintpurni temple in the Una district, along with Jwalaji and Brajeshwari Devi temples in the Kangra district, also observed a substantial influx of visitors.
According to an official at the Naina Devi shrine, “We are anticipating a daily influx of 15,000 to 20,000 devotees until the weekend.”
In light of the large crowds, security measures have been enhanced at all major shrines, as confirmed by a senior police representative.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu have conveyed their warm wishes to the public.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the New Year would usher in joy and serve as a beacon of renewed aspirations, new resolutions, and positive energy. He acknowledged the unwavering support of the state's residents in overcoming challenges. Despite facing numerous disasters in 2025, the year also witnessed significant advancements in sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure, attributed to the government’s commitment to tackling the issue of “chitta”, a narcotic substance.
CM Sukhu reassured that the government will persist in its efforts for the welfare of the populace and advocate for the state’s overall interests.
In his statement, the Governor expressed hopes that the New Year would bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to every home, opening doors to new opportunities for growth and development.
He emphasized that the New Year represents a chance to renew hope, encourage positive thinking, and foster a collective commitment to building a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive society. He urged the community, especially the youth, to embrace values of discipline, compassion, and social responsibility, actively contributing to a drug-free, healthy, and thriving state.
