Mumbai, Aug 30 (NationPress) Aditya Kripalani's newest feature film, "I'm Not An Actor", has been officially chosen for presentation at the 14th DC South Asian Film Festival, scheduled from September 5 to 7 in Washington D.C.
Featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Chitrangada Satarupa, the film made its World Premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival 2025 in San Jose, USA.
“Each day, we called ‘Action’ and ‘Cut’ at the same time across two continents. Our objective was to maintain the emotional bond and dialogue between the actors as genuine and unfiltered as possible,” Kriplani explained.
“This is the first film shot live between two countries, focusing heavily on the actors, despite the advanced technology involved. It was a challenging experience to film live across two countries for 30 days—one actor in Frankfurt and another in Mumbai, both connected via video calls, and the production occurring simultaneously. The United States has been very welcoming to our film, with a world premiere at CineQuest in California, an East Coast premiere in New York, and now Washington—within just a few months. We are thrilled to be traveling to the US again for a festival, especially as the Opening film. The excitement is palpable,” the filmmaker added.
Nawazuddin remarked: “The festival is incredibly warm and inviting. They genuinely care about Asian films, and it fills us with joy that ours is the opening film. We eagerly await our audience in Washington. For me, acting with someone thousands of miles away via video call for 30 days was a unique experience. Eventually, we transcended the technology and centered our focus on the emotions.”
Chitrangada expressed her excitement about acting alongside Nawazuddin, someone she has admired for a long time. “Having such a well-crafted script where both characters are complex and the situations are intricate was serendipitous. We witnessed audiences enjoying the film in New York just a few months back, with laughter, tears, and discussions following the screening. We now look forward to our film's debut in Washington D.C.,” she concluded.
