NCP MP Kolhe Urges Colleagues to Focus on Welfare Issues Instead of Political Sparring

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) NCP MP Amol Ramsing Kolhe asserted in the Lok Sabha that the focus of discussions in Parliament should prioritize issues concerning farmers, youth, and the common man over allegations regarding the ties between politicians and affluent business figures, as well as controversies like which politician is traveling with which tycoon or accepting funds from foreigners.

While addressing the Constitution debate, Kolhe pointed out that personal remarks often transform the House into a platform for political skirmishes.

“Political rhetoric frequently interrupts proceedings, overshadowing matters of national significance,” he passionately conveyed, raising alarms about the alleged misconduct during the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

His 14-minute speech highlighted the ongoing conflict between the treasury benches and the Opposition, which has led to repeated disruptions in both Houses during the current session of Parliament.

As the Opposition pushes forward with a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, the ruling BJP and its allies have been focusing on the alleged connections between former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and US billionaire George Soros.

Kolhe raised concerns regarding the alleged irregularities in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, asserting that voters deserve answers to their uncertainties.

Pointing out the purported inclusion of new voters after the revision of rolls and the alleged failure to adhere to the VVPAT-EVM vote matching protocol, Kolhe questioned why authorities are hesitant to undergo scrutiny if they claim no wrongdoing.

He demanded access to EVM log data for all candidates and insisted on matching votes in 5 percent of EVMs, expressing doubts about the Election Commission's transparency.

Kolhe proposed a dual voting system, allowing voters to choose between using an EVM or a ballot paper.

He urged, “During this discussion on the Constitution, it is pointless to dwell on the past. It would be more productive to assess the present and strategize for the future.”

Demanding social and economic justice for farmers, the Shirur MP highlighted that growers are not receiving fair prices for their produce.

“Farmers continue to endure hardships despite government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi,” he stated, advocating for revisions to the country's export and import policies to benefit them.

Addressing the issue of unemployment, he queried, “Are we providing economic justice to the youth in accordance with their educational qualifications?”

“Is it a success or a setback that even after 75 years of independence, the government is compelled to provide free rations to 80 crore people?” he questioned, emphasizing that a dignified job is preferable to free rations.

On the subject of social justice, Kolhe noted that the Constitution serves as the most sacred scripture, transcending the religions of individual citizens.

Referring to the mosque-temple disputes, he stated that the time wasted by the government and judiciary on such issues could be better spent on matters that promote nation-building and address citizens' needs.

“The right to disagree is now being exploited to label opponents as anti-national,” he remarked, stressing that every debate or disagreement should center around nation-building.

He also criticized the apathy of urban voters and the lack of emphasis on civic education and parliamentary subjects in the school curriculum.
