New Delhi, Sep 26 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against a father-son pair associated with the outlawed CPI (Maoist) group in relation to the gruesome murder of BJP leader Ratan Dubey in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh.
The second supplementary charge sheet was submitted to the NIA Special Court in Jagdalpur, as per the NIA's press release on Friday.
The accused, Shivanand Nag and his father Narayan Prasad Nag, face charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
According to the NIA, both individuals were active members of the CPI (Maoist) and had a notorious history of conflicts—political, business, and personal—with the deceased leader.
This case pertains to the murder of Ratan Dubey, a notable local BJP figure, who was brutally attacked with hand axes in broad daylight during an election campaign in Koushalnar village, located in the Jharaghati area of Narayanpur district, in November 2023.
The incident occurred in a bustling weekly market, aimed at derailing the electoral process and instilling fear in the local populace.
In its official statement, the NIA remarked: "The duo was actively participating in the criminal conspiracy surrounding Dubey's horrific killing."
The agency further disclosed that the attack was orchestrated by the Bayanan Area Committee and Barsoor Area Committee of the East Bastar Division of CPI (Maoist), with the aid of their overground workers (OGWs).
The NIA assumed control of the investigation in February 2024. Earlier, in June 2024, it had filed charges against Dhan Singh Korram, followed by the arrest and charges against two additional suspects, Sainuram Korram and Laluram Korram, in December 2024.
The case is recorded as RC-08/2024/NIA/RPR. The investigation remains active as the agency strives to uncover and arrest further suspects tied to the broader conspiracy.
This advancement represents a crucial move in delivering justice for those accountable for targeted political assassinations and Maoist-associated violence in conflict-prone areas of Chhattisgarh.
