NIA Submits Charge Sheet Against Three Maoists in Murder Case of BJP Leader in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) In the case concerning the murder of a BJP leader in Chhattisgarh, the NIA has officially submitted a charge sheet against three more Maoists on Friday. These individuals were allegedly involved in the conspiracy to brutally murder the victim in 2023, intending to disrupt elections and instill terror among the populace.

The supplementary charge sheet was presented to the NIA Special Court located in Jagdalpur, where charges were laid against Sainuram Korram, Laluram Korram, and another armed cadre for the murder of BJP leader Ratan Dubey. Notably, Sainuram Korram and Laluram Korram were apprehended on June 27, 2024.

On November 4, 2023, Dubey was hacked to death with axes by members of the outlawed group CPI (Maoist) during an election campaign in a bustling weekly market at Koushalnar village. This targeted murder was orchestrated to disrupt the fair election process and spread fear among the local residents.

The charges against the three suspects are based on various penal provisions and sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Through its investigation, the NIA has confirmed the involvement of members from both the Bayanar Area Committee and the Barsoor Area Committee of the East Bastar Division, which operates under the CPI (Maoist).

The NIA initiated this case on February 23, 2024, after assuming control of the investigation from local law enforcement. Previously, on June 5, the NIA had charged another suspect, Dhan Singh Korram.

In an unrelated matter, the NIA also apprehended an absconding executive member of the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI) on Friday in connection with the murder of BJP leader Praveen Nettaru in Karnataka in 2022.

Kodaje Mohammed Sherif, who had a lookout circular issued against him, was taken into custody upon his arrival from Bahrain at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.

BJP Yuva Morcha member Nettaru was murdered by PFI operatives on July 26, 2022, in Bellare village, located in Sullia Taluk of Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka.

The NIA, having taken over the investigation on August 4, has arrested a total of 20 individuals and filed charges against 23 suspects, which includes three who are still at large.
