New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a supplementary charge sheet against four additional individuals implicated in a case concerning the promotion and financing of CPI (Maoist) operations in Chhattisgarh, according to a statement from the investigative agency released on Wednesday.
The individuals named in the charges are Sunita Potam, Shankar Muchaki, Dashrath alias Dasru Modiyam, and Mallesh Kunjam.
As per the NIA, Sunita, Shankar, and Dashrath served as office bearers for the Moolwasi Bachao Manch (MBM), a front organization for CPI (Maoist) that was outlawed by the Chhattisgarh government under Section 3(1) of the Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act, 2005, in October of the previous year. Mallesh, who is an armed member of CPI (Maoist), is currently evading arrest.
Investigations have indicated that all four were actively involved in the raising, collecting, storing, and distributing of funds to advance the extremist agenda of CPI (Maoist).
These financial resources, according to the NIA, were utilized to orchestrate protests against the democratically elected government and to hinder developmental projects within the state. MBM and similar organizations are alleged to have acted as conduits for funneling these illicit funds.
With this latest charge sheet, the total number of accused in this case has reached seven, with six individuals already arrested.
This case dates back to May 2023, when the Bijapur Police intercepted MBM associates Gajendra Madvi and Laxman Kunjam with Rs 6 lakh in cash.
The duo was reportedly in the process of transporting the money to various bank accounts under the directives of CPI (Maoist) leaders. They were chargesheeted by the Bijapur Police in November 2023.
The investigation was subsequently handed over to the NIA in February 2024, and the central agency submitted its first supplementary chargesheet in August 2025, including new charges against Gajendra, Laxman, and another suspect, Raghu Midiyami.
