New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken into custody an individual implicated in the Bhairamgarh CPI (Maoist) arms supply operation, which is part of broader efforts to dismantle the Maoist terrorist network operating within the nation, an official stated on Thursday.

Aman Kesarwani was identified as one of the conspirators engaged in the provision of weapons and ammunition to the operatives of the CPI (Maoist) terrorist group, according to the official.

The individuals involved were responsible for sourcing and obtaining revolvers and ammunition from Uttar Pradesh for distribution to members of the CPI (Maoist) near Bhairamgarh Tehsil in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh.

The case began with the local police following the apprehension of five suspects in Bhairamgarh Tehsil.

In July 2023, the state police filed charges against these five suspects, followed by a supplementary chargesheet from the NIA against three additional suspects in April 2025 under the case number RC-01/2023/NIA/RPR.

Ongoing investigations are part of the NIA’s larger initiative to dismantle the Maoist terrorist ecosystem in the country, as confirmed by an official.

On August 2, the NIA filed charges against five Maoist operatives in connection with the February 2024 Chhattisgarh arms recovery incident.

The suspects identified include Anish Khan alias Annu Khan, Anil Kumar Netam, Jaysing Hidko, Raghvueer Jain, and Shailendra Kumar Baghel alias Golu, all of whom are recognized as Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for the outlawed organization CPI (Maoist).

All five were active members of the Kuyemari Area Committee associated with the terrorist organization.

In a supplementary chargesheet submitted to the Special Court in Jagdalpur, the NIA has accused them under multiple sections of the IPC, Explosives Substances Act, and UA(P) Act.

Earlier in August 2024, the NIA had also filed charges against two armed members of the CPI (Maoist) - Vinod Awalam and Ashu Korsa.

Investigations by the NIA unveiled that Anish Khan had supplied explosive materials to CPI (Maoist) operatives in the forest region of village Aalparas, which were subsequently seized.

The other suspects charged on August 2 provided shelter and logistical support to the Maoist operatives, facilitating a deadly assault on security forces near Mujalgondi village in Kanker district.
